Sale of advance train tickets for Eid-ul-Azha begins

Hundreds of people crowded in front of ticket counters as Bangladesh Railway started selling advance tickets for Eid-ul-Azha this morning (July 1, 2022).

Bangladesh Railway authorities will sell advance tickets of July 5 to July 9 and the sale of tickets will continue till July 5.

Return tickets will be sold from July 7. Around half of the tickets will be sold through the website and app.

Talking to The Daily Star, Sakibul Hasan, who resides in the capital’s Pallabi area, said “My brother came here at 9pm yesterday to get Sirajganj Express train tickets for July 5. I joined him at 5am.”

“I’m happy that I didn’t have to face as much struggle as previous years,” he said.

He bought seven tickets for his family.

Wishing to remain unnamed, a railway staff however said they may not be able to provide tickets to all. “It’s a huge crowd. Some may have to return empty handed,” he said.
