Suriya is first Tamil actor to join Oscar committee

Tamil actor Suriya has been invited to join the Academy’s Class of 2022. This has come after the international success of his recent films “Soorarai Pottru” and “Jai Bhim”. Suriya is the first South Indian actor to be invited to the Oscar committee.

Kajol is the only other Indian actor/actress to be invited aside from Suriya. Another notable addition to the list is filmmaker Reema Kagti.
